State Birds in State Tree

 Oklahoma State Tree:   Redbud
Oklahoma State Bird:  Scissor-tailed Flycatcher
(all tucked in for a long night)
Their Mom has made them a cozy little bed and has it wrapped up with several colors of twine. There are actually five little ones in the nest, it is getting full.
They are starting to get their fuzzy feathers, and I'm sure will be gone soon.

One can tell these are "country" birds due to the twine used to make their nest, both in red and blue.
I will give another update on them, they grow amazingly fast.

Thanks for visiting our State Bird and State Tree in our part of the country,
Jana

  1. Those are just too sweet. Love that the mom used twine on the nest. I hope they do well!

  2. sweet! we used to have a pair that nested every year in a nearby tree at our former place. here, they stay further up the driveway so i don't get to see them until they've grown.

  4. I think the colourful twine adds a certain something to their nest! They look very comfortable in there, and very cute too.

  5. So cute, nice shots. Given my lack of knowledge about birds and trees, I wouldn't have known what either was, but that's great that it's the state bird in the state tree!

    1. I know nothing about birds or trees either, it was my husband who told me, I didn't have a clue.

  7. LOL Randy backed his flatbed pickup up to the tree, I stood on the back. I was lucky, we knew where the nest was, it has been there for several years. Thanks

    1. I had to watch for Mama the entire time, she likes to "dive-bomb" you when you get close to her babies.
