Wedding Shower....

This is my soon to be son-in-law Macy and my daughter Kayla at their wedding shower.
Here are all the ladies who gave them the shower.  This is another reason I love a small town.  All of these women have known both of my children since they were born.  Among them are Sunday School teachers, Aunts, Cousins, Mentors, Prayer Warriors and yes Great Friends.
This kind of love for your children you can not buy.
They said it takes a village to raise a child and this is part of our village.
This is Cheri my BFF.  She has known both of my kids all of their lives and was even a boss to Kayla for several summers when they worked together.  She has volunteered to help with both of my kids wedding showers......Thanks Cheri.
I have to be nice to her she knows all my secrets and has some
"colorful" pictures of me I have been warned about.
The cutie in the middle is a friend of the family.
Macy has already said she is his "backup" bride if Kayla backs out.
Kayla with her Great Grandma Frances and Grandma Carolyn.   Frances is a young 92 years and is the pride of our family.  I truly don't know if they make them any sweeter than her.
 MY KIDS!!!
I have got to be one lucky Mom, I love them all.

Yep the same Cutie, can you tell my family just adores her.  My husband wants to adopt her and her parents say that he would bring her back...his reply....TRY ME.
Randy loves kids and can not wait for his own Grandkids.
Me and my Hubby.  Yes he came to the shower......only Kayla could get him to do that.
 Me and my girl.
Only yesterday she was a Tomboy and had pigtails.  She has became a beautiful woman.
I have gained weight, wrinkles and some grey hair.
Being a Mom....isn't it great. LOL

Thanks for visiting our part of the country,
Jana

Cheri

I am not a mushy, gushy person, but this is really a long over due Thank You.

Mothers day is this week and I was thinking about my Mom, which brings me to Cheri.  How?  Well, about 21 years ago I got a phone call from my Mom telling me that she had a terminal illness.  I was numb.   I lost it.  Not knowing what to do, where to go, how to handle this devastating news I got in my car and started driving.  Who can you go talk to about something like this?  Who would have compassion, listen, take the time to just be there?  My car ended up at Cheri's house.

I walked up to her front door and she wasn't home.  I got back in my car and lost it again.  I was sitting there balling like no other, and I looked up and there was Cheri.   She was on her way to who knows where and saw my car pull in her driveway. You see that is my friend......her plans were second to a friend..  Knowing me as well as she did she told her husband that she had better go see why I was at her house.
I talked, she listened and we cried.

Another time I called her at work.  Again I was in tears, (honestly I'm not a crying person) crying hard enough she couldn't understand me.  I hung up the phone, because I couldn't "talk" anymore about a horrible situation I was going thru.  In just a few minutes there was a knock at my door........you guessed it.....again it was Cheri.  She left work to come and listen.  Her work was second to a friend, that's Cheri.

This quote is perfect for describing Cheri, because if anything, she is loyal.  A loyal Christian, wife, mother and friend. Yep, loyal definitely describes her.
I could go on and on with stories about Cheri.  She has never judged me, (and believe me there have been reasons to),  has been there for me over and over,  has shown me how to be a true Christian,  and made me laugh so hard my stomach hurt.   I saw her face the news of her husband being paralyzed and NEVER did her faith even quiver.
I was never blessed with a sister, but if I were she would be top of the list.
She is an amazing wife, mother, Christian
and yes,  friend.

OK, now saying all that I must leave with this picture, I can only be serious so long.
This will be Cheri and me someday, hopefully not to soon.
Still friends ( we have to stay friends, she knows too much)......still laughing.

Thank you Cheri, for so many things, but most of all your friendship,

Jana
If your not lucky enough to know her, check out her blog.....

Good Friends making Memories

This is my daughter Kayla and she had the day off today.  So she thought .........

Let's go get our friend Jamie.  Isn't she sooo cute.
It was a great day for the park.

Jamie is 9 (almost 10) and my daughter is 23.
I get to go spend time with Jamie once a week during the school year and during the summer we try and get together for games, swimming, eating out,  we have even been known to do some cooking.

Kayla goes along with me whenever she can and Jamie has really grown close to her.
I just love how they are looking at each other in this picture.....friends having fun.

Jamie wanted to go on ALL the toys.

Kayla is really just a kid herself,
(did I mention she's getting married in September,
doesn't she look mature enough for marriage?)
This is why Jamie loves her coming along, she gets a kid to play with.

Every once in a while I made her stop long enough for a picture.
 Playing is such hard work.

Top of the jungle gym!!! We made it

Good friends....... making some Great memories.

Shopping Day...

Today we are taking some of our cattle to the sale barn.  Kind of like a shopping mall for cows.
The guy on the right is Bobby the auctioneer/owner of  the sale barn.  Hi Bobby, he's my friend, he gets me money for my cows, what's not to love about that?

I must confess that I have lived in Oklahoma for about 20 years and had never stepped foot in a sale barn, that is until I married Randy.  I had no need to go....after all try to find a pair of heels here,
 it simply can't be done.

The sale barn can be a little loud, and it is smelly (is that a word, it is now) and definitely not sanitary, apparently cows are not house broken.
MOVE 'EM IN.....MOVE'EM OUT....
I like to be bossy...ask my family.

Bobby is ready for more.....he likes to sell  them and is great at keeping it moving.  Cow shopping is serious business....just ask any of these guys, just don't put it like that or they look at you funny.

It's as if these guys were buying a pair of heels....
apparently size and color is a big deal, and if they find one with a "short tail" for instance, they want it put on the clearance rack,  they LOVE a bargain just as much as we do.

A lot of conversing goes on....kind of like a friend on a shopping trip.......
What do you think?   Do you like this one?   Is this too much?  What about this color?
I'm sure they appreciate me putting it into women's shopping terms.....your welcome.

This is my brother-in-law Rick, he's not here to shop....he wants a paycheck.

Father-in-Law Mic.....just checking things out.
He (like everyone else here) is wondering why in the world someone brought a camera in the sale barn.
What I won't do for all of you bloggers....

And get a look at their shopping carts.  Just imagine how many bargains I could get in one of these.
And just like Walmart, their parking lot gets full of shopping carts.
This is a look at some of their workers.....must be break time.

They are dedicated shoppers, more than most of us, they will go way into the night, as long as it takes.  When we left they were still unloading the "goods" and the shopping was still going on inside.
Just like me, they don't want to miss a bargain.

If this is my idea of a shopping trip...I need to get a life.

Thanks for visiting my part of the country
