Work Benefits

This is a view I get to look at on my way to my "new job".

The pay at my new job is not the best....$0.00 per hour.
but the view isn't bad.

Thanks for visiting my working part of the country,

My New Job

I got a new job.....
OK let me correct that....

I Got "A" Job.

I did not apply for it.
I did not ask for it.
I do not get paid for it,
and before my husband makes a comment about it
No I am not very good at it either.
But.....I get to be the boss....
at least I'm the boss of these two workers.
Meet my co-workers.....Todd & Jag.
They LOVE the job.
Don't they just look like your normal "cow dogs"?
This is our job....feeding the cows.
Yes, it is dry, just look at all the dust they stir up just walking in.
They love my "cooking",
not a picky one in the group.
I must say they don't tip very well,
but on the other hand they don't gripe much either.

A Dry Beautiful Summer & Fall

Yes we have had a dry summer and now a dry fall,
and yes we have had a hot summer.
But this country life can still be a beautiful,
at least to me.

We are still praying for rain,  it is needed so bad in our part of the country,

Thanks for visiting our brown and beautiful country,

The middle is always the best..

The middle of the pan is always the best....whether it is brownies, cinnamon rolls, cake or even
hay.

New Baby

I took these pictures back in the spring when we got a new baby.
Mama is giving him his first bath.
The only reason I was able to get this close was he was born in our corral,
I am making mama nervous, you can see her watching me.
All shiny and clean, he hasn't even stood up yet.
He was still a little shaky just holding his head up.

Our Taj Mahal

Well, we we made it thru our daughters wedding.....and even survived it.
This was where we had our rehearsal dinner.  It may not be the Taj Mahal, but it was a really nice place to visit with family and friends......and a lot of love went into it.
It took me about a couple of days to recuperate......I must be getting old, but we are somewhat back to normal now, well our kind of normal.

Thanks for visiting our Taj Mahal part of the world,

Rocking the Drive

Now that we have our barn up it's time to help get rid of our muddy driveway. We had put down several loads of "rock" earlier, but it ended up too much dirt in it and whenever we would get rain,
 we also got mud.
So we pulled out the "big guns" and got just rock this time.
Remember we are having our rehearsal dinner and if it rains (we are always hopeful) we don't want a muddy mess.....Mud and weddings don't mix well.

Here is my Father-in-law is helping spread it around.

Here is hubby starting to spread it out.

Well as it turns out 2 more loads of rock wasn't enough........so

we ordered 2 more loads......it's only money right.

I was surprised this is how they emptied their load.

Whenever we had our first "dirt" hauled in, they dumped it out the bottom of the bed.
This way was new to me.

After it was all spread we had to water all of it.
First to help with this dust....it was almost as bad as the mud and
second to help make it hard......don't ask me why, but watering it does help it to "harden up"
...kind of like cement.

I never think that the pile they leave looks like very much, but
thank goodness this time it was....
we were tired of spreading it, watering it and
even more tired of paying for it,

but it looks great!!!!

Thanks for visiting our rocky part of the country,

A Country Pond

We were out for a drive and look at the beautiful pond we came upon.

God truly gives everyone beauty,
No matter where you live, God put beauty there.....just look around.

Thank you God for my beautiful country,

I found my pickup

I want this ol' pickup.  It has personality....and weeds.....and rust....
and possibly a few animals living in it.

I think it would make a great yard ornament for me.
I know lots of people want a beautiful waterfall or a statue......
not me, I want a rusted pickup.

I suddenly feel like I'm on the Waltons
(some may not know what that is...a TV show that took place during the depression)

Thanks for visiting my part of the rusty country,

Good Morning

Blue, Pink and Green.  I took this photo back in the spring when it was still green around here,
and in the morning just to prove that I can get out of bed before noon.

Warts

I didn't know that calves had warts, but that is what my husband says these are?

Who knew?  I will say he is easy to spot and a face only a Mom could love.

God's Little House on the Prairie...

A beautiful country church at sunset.  There are still a few country churches around and
I just loved this one we stumbled on one evening when we were out for a drive.

Fence...well somewhat

Well, it's kind of a fence....or use to be,
but it makes a purrrty picture.

Thanks for visiting my part of the country,
where we always have a fence to repair.

A New Baby

Maybe it's just me, but I think this baby is so shiny and a bit shy, hiding by Mama.
I love the baby calves, somehow when they grow up they are just not as cute..
sorry Momma, the truth hurts.

Thanks for visiting my part of the country.

The Sparks Flew When....

 Here is Brother-in-Law Rick again.
 Doing what he does best.
He probably wouldn't agree with me on that,
if you were to ask him he would probably list a lot of things he does well.
We love to harass each other ...it's what we do best.
He told me that he has had a spark fall in his ear before and then spit it out his mouth....
talk about hurting, but it does explain a lot about Rick.....crazy.
This is the newest addition to the loft.  Any guesses what they are making?
This iron is heavy.  Have no doubt they are straining here.
They can't hold it up without the chain and a winch in the middle.
Not witch....they didn't want my help.
They thought they might be able to lift it up until they tried.
Where is the Incredible Hulk when you need him?
It was about at this point I was afraid they were going to ask me (witch) for help.
They would have laughed at that last comment....
Not a chance would they ever need me to help....not that desperate.
They are building stairs for the loft.....well part of them,
do we really need steps?

Thanks for visiting my part of the country,
Jana

Skinny Dippin' or Chunky Dunkin'

"They act like they have never seen a cow skinny dipping' before."
"Look at them now they are taking pictures of us"
"Well I don't know about you, but I'm looking' good,
I've been working' out"
"Well you might look good,
but I don't skinny dip......
I Chunky Dunk"

I bet my fellow bloggers didn't know I knew how to speak cow.

Thanks for visiting our chunky part of the country,

PS: just for the record IT"S HOT

Loft Making Part II

After they got the 3 beams set Randy put the rails up that are going in the opposite direction.
He had to weld each one in three places and put them 16" apart.
I only know this because I got to hold the tape measure, about all I'm good for.
Then the "real" help showed up....our son Kyler.
Randy was on top of the flat bed and handed up the flooring material.
"Over more", "Back to me", "Too Much", "What do ya think?" "OK, screw it in"
It's  an exact science.
Kyler had got the privilege of screwing each one down......
Under supervision,  do you see that little finger giving instructions.
Did I mention that Kyler HATES being up any higher than he can jump,
he did get something from me.....fear of heights.
"What's taking you so long?"  "I've got them all handed up to you...speed it up, get the lead out"
Did I also mention they love to harass each other.  It makes working together so much more fun.

Randy loves when Kyler is around, it truly makes doing anything better for him.....
not that he would EVER admit this to Kyler.
Happy Fathers Day!!
