unfortunately that one cow will not just come and get in the trailer.
Our cows mind about as well as our kids did when they were little.
Our cows mind about as well as our kids did when they were little.
They come running because they think it is eaten' time.
After he gets them all in the corral, he then has to let all (except for the one he is wanting) out.
It can sometimes be a bit tricky, as they ALL want to leave
When he is ready to load the one, then he calls for the trailer. The cows get more "uptight" when they see anything out of the ordinary going on and so they don't want the
trailer to show up until they are ready to load.
She loaded up fast and they were surprised, she's a WILD one and that is part of the reason they wanted to sell her. She has chased the guys on more than one occasion....kind of has a bad attitude,
you don't want to do that around here or they will sell you.....just so ya know.
Thanks for visiting our part of the country,
Jana
thanks for the warning! :)
ReplyDeleteSure, just thought you would want to know LOL
DeleteWell I hope that teaches her a valuable lesson, not to have attitude!
ReplyDeleteIf she learned her lesson it is too little, too late. LOL
ReplyDeleteI never realized what went into selling a cow. All we've got is a tiny dog, and he's pretty manageable.
ReplyDeleteI love your bird photos below, it's amazing how quickly they've grown.
Hi Al, I never realized before I got married to Randy either, all I had known about were feed lots.
DeleteI'll enjoy her at McDonalds. My family doesn't keep the wild cows either. If their ears go on point and rotate 360 degrees when you get out of the pickup, it's time to get the trailer.
ReplyDeleteLOL you do know what I'm talking about when I talk about the wild ones. They can be pretty fast and you should see Randy run up the fence.
DeleteTemperament, its all about good temp for breeding. Hahahah - loved that about having a good attitude if you know what's good for you around here. :))))) Great super pics!
ReplyDeleteyes breeding is a factor and my hubby likes Angus, they might be a little mean, but very tasty.
DeleteSeriously Jana that is very interesting - we predominantly had Angus for their quiet temp AND they'd fetch the best price here! Oooh you do bring back memories for me with your blog.
DeleteOOPs Rose Angus isn't the meaner one it is Brahma that is on the "mean" side. Forgive me LOL
DeleteAh yes, we also had Brahmans and crossbred for some "Brangus" ! :))
DeleteSo now is she steak? :(
ReplyDeleteLOL yes for someone, maybe you had her for dinner.
DeleteThey looked well fed--I always enjoy seeing a pasture of cows or horses.
ReplyDeleteMy husband enjoys them too, he sees $$ and a steak LOL
DeleteWhat was going through your mind when it was nearer and nearer !!
ReplyDeleteI had a pickup to get into, I am a true chicken at heart. I won't ever get into a corral with them, I can't run fast enough.
DeleteMost of the cows aren't that wild, my husband can walk around them, just a few are wild and get worse if they are "contained" and feel they can't get out.
DeleteI was raised on a farm/ranch, and was an avid horsewoman. But I did get chased several times over the years by some crazy cows. Great post.
ReplyDeleteLOl so you know what I'm talking about. Randy got knocked out once and has climbed many a fence....I tease him about how fast he really can run.
