White Farm House

My husband and I were driving down a country road and came upon this old farm home at an intersection.  The entire corner was mowed and edged, not a weed growing up around the house.
I'm still not sure why, but I loved it.

I always want to know the stories of old abandoned houses.
Christmas mornings, birthday parties or who first moved in to the new house
and how exciting they were......a brand new home.
Most of the windows were broken out.
Making it possible to "see thru" it.
They had a little porch on all sides....very inviting.
Complete with the water pump right out their door....
all the conveniences of home.

Thanks for visiting my part of the country,
Jana

  3. I too want to know their stories. It seems strange in this case that the land is cared for, and yet the house has been neglected.

  5. I am also very intrigued by abandoned houses like this and wonder the same things you did. I find them a little sad at the same time. Your photos capture it very well.

    1. Thanks Al, I think it is a bit sad as well. Once upon a time it was probably a dream home for someone.

    1. Thanks for the visit, I am wanting to get an old school that I drive by often, I just thought about it today as I drove by, but I didn't have a camera with me.

  7. Isn't that water pump just something! Great find Jana, one could just stand there quietly and indulge in imaginative ponderings on its history and stories. But yes the neatly mowed lawns are a sure indicator that someone cares about this place and maybe has a bygone attachment to it in some way. Oh the mystery....

    1. Hi Rose, I should have known you would like the water pump, that is just like me, I love antiques and had to get a picture of it. I agree that someone probably does have an attachment to keep it up so nice, either that or they love things neat an orderly and probably have a garage with labeled baskets. LOL
