It's Getting Close

Randy was checking his rye about a week ago.  I guess it's like checking a cake in the oven
and you can just tell when it's getting close.
The wheat is close too.  There is a little green and the heads aren't bent over yet.
Anyway that is what I was told.
I'm not sure why, but even as a young girl I loved a wheat field.  It is so graceful when it sways in the wind, and I think the color has such beautiful shades of gold.

Thanks for visiting my golden part of the country,
Jana

  1. Great pics. I like the wheat against the sky. The blue and gold look so good together. It looks like Randy is going to be extra busy soon!

    1. Thanks Tracey and yes harvest is very soon. It's always a rush to get it out of the field before any bad weather takes it all.

  2. Great shots! When I was growing up I hated harvest cause I was in the field and some of my friends were playing. When you get older you realize what great memories those times were.

  3. I know exactly what you mean. We had city kids come out to watch harvest and I always wondered what the big deal was. Now I like to go to the field...for a little while and then back to air conditioning.
