Cinnamon Rolls...

I wish I could take credit for these, but I can not, I got the recipe from
Pioneer Woman and they are GREAT.
I do not make bread, well not good bread, but this recipe is so easy and they are so good.
First mix milk, oil and sugar and "scald", then turn off the heat and let cool for 1 hour or until mixture is lukewarm, not hot.

Sprinkle dry yeast over and let sit for a minute.
Then add 8 cups of all-purpose flour.  Stir together.  Cover and let rise for at least 1 hour.

IT'S ALIVE!!!!  This is a good thing.  Now add 1 more cup of flour, baking powder, soda and salt.
This step is different from her recipe, but I like it better.  My daughter started mixing the butter, sugar and cinnamon together ahead of time.  After the melted butter sits a while it starts to get a little thicker from the butter setting back up.
Sprinkle your work surface with flour.  Take half of the dough and roll out to form a rectangle.
Mixing the butter, sugar and cinnamon makes this step a little easier because the butter doesn't run off the bread.   Spread half of the mixture over dough and roll up dough, keeping tight.  Pinch the seam to the roll.   I also use less butter and sugar than she does and it is plenty sweet enough for our family.
It doesn't look like a shortage of calories does it.....

Spread 1 tablespoon of melted butter into foil cake pans, then cut rolls about 1" thick and lay in pans.  Let the rolls rise for about 30 minutes then bake at 375 for about 15 minutes or more.
Frosting:  This is liquid gold.  This is thick, but pourable.
I spread this over the rolls as soon as they come out of the oven.

My daughter and me have made over 65 (and counting) pans of these recently, I would love to know how many calories that comes out to....no on second thought I don't want to know.

The recipe will be posted under the cooking tab of my blog.

Thanks for my sweet part of the country,
Jana

  4. These do look good. Sixty five pans, were you hungry? Perhaps you could spare a few for Cheri!

  5. First of all I am so impressed I'm fit to fall over because this is way above my skills as a cook. Secondly let's not count the calories, let's just not go there. But I think we are all waiting for the reason for 65 trays of these delicious dribble-worthy goodies?????

    1. Rose you are too hard on yourself. I'm sure you could make these, I have never been good at bread and I have made LOTS of these and they always turn out, and if I can anyone can.
