Stampede of Sorts...

My husband is wanting to sell A cow...only one....
unfortunately that one cow will not just come and get in the trailer.
Our cows mind about as well as our kids did when they were little.
Instead he has to call ALL the cows in.
They come running because they think it is eaten' time.
After he gets them all in the corral, he then has to let all (except for the one he is wanting) out.
It can sometimes be a bit tricky, as they ALL want to leave
When he is ready to load the one, then he calls for the trailer.  The cows get more "uptight" when they see anything out of the ordinary going on and so they don't want the
trailer to show up until they are ready to load.
She loaded up fast and they were surprised, she's a WILD one and that is part of the reason they wanted to sell her.  She has chased the guys on more than one occasion....kind of has a bad attitude,
you don't want to do that around here or they will sell you.....just so ya know.

Thanks for visiting our part of the country,
Jana

  4. I never realized what went into selling a cow. All we've got is a tiny dog, and he's pretty manageable.

I love your bird photos below, it's amazing how quickly they've grown.

    1. Hi Al, I never realized before I got married to Randy either, all I had known about were feed lots.

  5. I'll enjoy her at McDonalds. My family doesn't keep the wild cows either. If their ears go on point and rotate 360 degrees when you get out of the pickup, it's time to get the trailer.

    1. LOL you do know what I'm talking about when I talk about the wild ones. They can be pretty fast and you should see Randy run up the fence.

    1. yes breeding is a factor and my hubby likes Angus, they might be a little mean, but very tasty.

    2. Seriously Jana that is very interesting - we predominantly had Angus for their quiet temp AND they'd fetch the best price here! Oooh you do bring back memories for me with your blog.

    1. I had a pickup to get into, I am a true chicken at heart. I won't ever get into a corral with them, I can't run fast enough.

    2. Most of the cows aren't that wild, my husband can walk around them, just a few are wild and get worse if they are "contained" and feel they can't get out.

  10. I was raised on a farm/ranch, and was an avid horsewoman. But I did get chased several times over the years by some crazy cows. Great post.
